Located in the heart of Lousa, Churrasqueira Serpinense is a charming café and restaurant that embodies the soul of traditional Portuguese cuisine. From the moment you step inside, you are welcomed by a warm, inviting atmosphere that feels like being in a close friend’s home—a sentiment echoed by many who treasure this beloved local spot.
The menu here is a loving homage to classic regional dishes, expertly prepared to delight every palate. Standouts include the Chanfana, a rich, slow-cooked goat stew simmered to tender perfection, and the much-celebrated Sopa da Pedra, a hearty bean soup bursting with smoky flavors that will have you savoring every spoonful long after the bowl is empty. As one customer beautifully described, the Sopa da Pedra on Wednesdays is so delicious it’s “comer e chorar por mais” — eat it and cry for more.
Other signature dishes such as Cozido à Portuguesa, a robust Portuguese stew packed with an array of meats and vegetables, and Bacalhau à Gomes de Sá, a classic sight of codfish baked with potatoes, onions, and olives, showcase the depth and authenticity of their cooking. For the meat lovers, the Frango Churrasco comes grilled just right, juicy and flavorful, perfectly paired with fresh seasonal salads or simple side dishes.
Desserts here are equally memorable, offering traditional sweet treats like Bolo de Bolacha, with its delicate layers of coffee-soaked cookies and cream, and the indulgent Baba de Camelo, a smooth caramel-flavored custard that melts in your mouth. Seasonal fresh fruits such as Melancia and vibrant fruit salads provide a refreshing finish to the meal.
Beyond the delicious food, the dining experience at Churrasqueira Serpinense is enriched by the genuine hospitality of its team. D. Fátima and Márcia’s warm smiles and attentive care make visitors feel like treasured guests rather than mere customers—something that repeats in the heartfelt testimonials. As one guest shared, “A comida da D. Fátima é deliciosa, como se fossemos comer a casa da avó,” perfectly capturing the feeling of sitting down to a meal steeped in love and tradition.
Though the restaurant is small, it offers an intimate setting where the focus remains on authentic flavors and heartfelt connections. Guests often note the cozy charm and local spirit that defines the dining experience here, making it not just a meal, but a memory to be cherished.
Whether you are a long-time lover of Portuguese food or a curious traveler seeking a taste of genuine home-cooked flavors, Churrasqueira Serpinense promises an unforgettable culinary journey rooted in tradition, warmth, and delicious simplicity.

It's a great place, but almost no one was wearing a mask
Excellent food, great friendly service and good coffee. Loved it
Comida e atendimento excelente. É um estabelecimento pequeno, e que por isso mesmo nos transmits aquele sentimento de estarmos a ser recebidos como alguém da terra.
